America’s Alexis Sablone clinched the gold medal in Women’s Skateboard Street Final at the latest edition of X Games that continued in Los Angeles on Friday, June 29.

Finishing just behind her in runner-up place was Brazil’s Leticia Bufoni, who got to take home the silver medal for her efforts. America’s Rachel Reinhard managed to secure the last remaining place on the podium.

Sablone has been making a really solid impact in Women’s Skateboard Street event ever since making her first X Games appearance in 2009. Boasting an excellent record of consistent podium finishes, which included a couple of silver and one gold medal, she had all the reason to feel confident as she got ready to take on the best female skaters from around the world in a school-yard inspired street course in Event Deck in L.A. Live.

Not wasting too much before to assert her dominance over her rivals in the Final, the 25-year-old Brooklyn-based rider put together a phenomenal first of four runs, which featured a kick-flip over the roof gap, kick-flip down a massive ledge into a bank, Ollie up the ledge from the bank before landing a clean kick-flip front-side 50-50 grind down a picnic table.

The run earned her a score of 85.66, which held up throughout the entirety of the contest to eventually place on the highest place on the podium.

“Oh my god, I’m so stoked, I can’t believe it! I was so nervous,” Sablone said, after the competition. “The first run is the one that counts for me, so I felt okay once I got that out of the way. I was so nervous last night that I barely slept. I woke up at 6 a.m., took a shower, and was ready to go. All the girls skated great. I still can’t believe I won.”

Bufoni was nothing short of impressive during the battle for podium either. The 19-year-old Sao Paulo-based skater earned her top score of 81.00 from her first run as well, which saw her pulling off stylish melon grabs over the cement hip and huge front-side 180s of the ledge.

Reinhard seemed to have taken her mind off the wildfires threatening her community back in Colorado Springs and managed to land an exquisite 80.33-point Run 1 to claim the bronze medal while pushing defending event champion Dal Santo, scoring a 76.66 from her top run, off the podium.

California’s Lacey Baker and Elissa Steamer rounded out the bottom-two positions after earning a 68.33 and 62.00 off their best run respectively.

It turned out to be yet another year of thrilling Women’s Skate Street event at X Games, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary in Los Angeles.
