Mickey Arthur asks Australia to show character against England

Australian head coach Mickey Arthur has asked his team to show some fight against arch-rivals England in the ongoing One Day International series. The Englishmen are currently 3-0 up in the series with the final game scheduled to be played at Old Trafford
this Tuesday.

The Aussies suffered an embarrassing eight-wicket loss in the last ODI on Saturday. Michael Clarke and men were restricted to 200 runs in the allotted quota of 50 overs. Steven Finn grabbed four wickets for only 37 runs, using the best advantage of the bowling
friendly pitch.

In reply, the Poms comfortably overhauled the target with 13 balls to spare. Ian Bell and Jonathan Trott smashed magnificent half centuries to guide their side to an easy success. Saddened by his team’s below par performance so far in the series, the coach
said:

"I want to see a bit of ‘mongrel’ come Tuesday, I really do. I think we’ve been a bit submissive this whole series. We’ve been allowed to be bullied, and we’re better than that. For Arthur it is the comprehensive manner of defeats by 15 runs, six wickets
and now eight wickets that has been tough to take," said Arthur.

He added, "I’m disappointed and really shocked. We haven’t played anywhere near our real potential and that could be to the fact that we haven’t been allowed to play to our potential or haven’t grasped the moments when they’ve been there. We haven’t found
a way to put England under any sort of pressure and that’s really disappointing and infuriating me a bit."

"We’ve been outplayed. We’re better than that. That’s the real disappointing thing for me. I’ve just had a real good meeting with the team, a tough meeting, a hard meeting. I spoke some home truths, I think. I want to see how they respond on Tuesday. I’m
looking to see how they stand up, how they respond."

The South African stated that the team needs a guy, who steps forward and take responsibility on his shoulders. Meanwhile, he uttered that the side has been working on a solid policy to ensure a positive result in the final encounter.
