No loadshedding if adequate gas supply is available: KESC

Karachi: (Friday, July 20, 2012) Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) said yesterday that if adequate gas supply is available, it would not only help eliminate the loadshedding, but will also help the KESC to provide electricity
to the consumers on cheaper rates.

According to the statement issued by the KESC, in order to maintain a certain level of loadshedding in the metropolis the utility is forced to use 370 per cent expensive fuel-furnace oil.

It said it was presently receiving only 200 MMCF gas per day against the actual allocation of 400 MMFC. This leads to increased use of furnace oil for power generation, it added.a
