Troubles playing PS One games on Playstation Vita

Some players are launching complaints about Playstation Vita not being able to download classic games on the console of PS One, functionality that was implemented this week with firmware 1.80 delivered from Playstation Network.
Apparently, the games can not be purchased / downloaded directly from the handheld, but must be going through a Playstation 3, where you buy the game and sent to the laptop, as reported by Eurogamer.
Sony has not commented on the matter. The catalog of PS One games for Playstation Vita is composed of hundreds of classics from the time of the first home console company.
