International Hall of Fame trainer, Freddie Roach, recently had an exclusive interview with Jenna Jay of DoghouseBoxing.com. During the interview, Roach pointed to another monumental battle between the eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao and four-division world champion, Juan Manuel Marquez, who currently holds the WBO light welterweight title.
While sharing thoughts with the media about the rumoured 4th fight between Pacquiao and Marquez, Roach admitted that it will be a difficult bout for the Filipino boxing icon.
The 52-year-old trainer insisted that the efficient counter-punching style has been a very though puzzle for them to solve.
Roach told doghouseboxing.com, “Well, it’s a very difficult fight, and the thing is that Marquez does have a hard style for us, so we just have to get in the gym and work real hard for this fight, and Manny really needs to focus. It’s a very difficult fight style wise for us, he does give us problems, but I think if Manny Pacquiao gets in the best shape he can, we will finally close the book on Marquez.”
Pacquiao and Marquez have met three times before but all of the fights between the two ended up with a storm of controversy.
However, when Roach was asked about it, he said he just have to find a way to avoid the Mexican’s lead right hand.
He said, “The movement of Marquez, he is very slick, he knows how to get Manny to move into the right hand and we just got to nullify that. We just have to find a way to avoid that lead right hand. We have not found a way yet in three fights, but we better get it done in this fight or we won’t win this one.
Well, all said and done, Manny Pacquiao has not confirmed anything about who is he going to fight next but let’s see if he really sets up a fourth fight with his archrival Juan Manuel Marquez.
