Southern actor Prithviraj Sukumaran, who is all set for his first ever Bollywood ride with Sachin Kundalkar’s upcoming film ‘Aiyyaa’, has claimed that he is one of the biggest fans of Rani Mukerji, who will be seen opposite to him in the film.
While speaking on his inclusion, the actor told the media that it is an honour for him to work with Rani.
“You all say you are big fans of Rani, but I will vouch for the fact that there is probably a bigger fan of Rani here right now, probably of all of Rani’s films. I watched all her films and it is a great honour for me to be a part of a film that has Rani in it,” the 29-year-old said.
Southern films are normally known for their crazy content but Prithviraj says ‘Aiyyaa’ is the craziest movie he has ever done. The actor has also promised his fans a lot of fun.
“To me, this is the craziest film I have been part of. The humour, the dance, the music and wakda and above all Rani, it just doesn’t get any crazier than Aiyaa. So get prepared for one hell of a joyride,” Prithviraj said.
‘Aiyyaa’, which is scheduled to hit the cinemas on October 12, landed in the middle of a controversy a few days back during the promotion since there were many out who questioned the film’s so-called ‘racist’ undertone.
In the film Rani plays the role of a Marathi girl who tries to woo the man of her dreams. However, the controversy started due to one of the statements which Rani made in the film.
South Indians felt racism after Rani made a statement during the film that she likes ‘Kaale ladke’ and then her chosen one turned out to be a South Indian (Prithviraj).
Nevertheless, Rani has confirmed everyone that there is nothing of this sort in the movie.
“Puhleeze, it is not said in any terms which are bad. Logon ko kuch naa kuch chahiye uchaalne ke liye. When you see the film in the story’s context, you would realise that there is nothing racist about it,” shoots back Rani.
