Arsenal secures late point at the Etihad Stadium – EPL News
Gunners secured a well-deserved late point after Koscielny fired the goal in the 84th minute. As a result, Arsenal carried their unbeaten record this season and occupied the fifth spot at the Barclays English Premier League rankings.
Arsenal showed exceptional skills at the Etihad Stadium. They suffered the first blow when the host side scored five minutes to the first half (Lescott headed into the net in the 40th minute.)
Eight minutes to the stoppage time, Koscielny scored a stunner. Ball broke to him from the corner and he fired into the net with class.
As a result, Arsenal halted the defending champions and secured a late point. They dominated throughout the game and deservedly earned the point.
Wenger was quoted in an interview to Arsenal Player after they conquered Manchester City:
“What is very important for the team is that it was a point in a convincing way. It was not a miraculous point. It was a well-deserved point. We dominated the game for big parts and that must strengthen the team’s belief. It’s now down to how much we improve,
how well we keep that attitude [if we are to win the title]. If we keep that attitude, I think we have a chance. Attitude and consistency will make the end result. Let’s see after 38 games.”
The Arsenal tactician believes that the victory gave confidence boost to his side. They are now well prepared for clash against their local rivals Chelsea.
“I’m happy with the quality of our performance – happy with our attitude, our spirit and our team play,” Wenger stated further. “A bit frustrated [as well] because we had early chances and very late chance with Gervinho that we could have killed the game.”
