Indian director Madhur Bhandarkar says he is pretty happy with the response of his latest film ‘Heroine’, which featured the ultimate diva of Bollywood industry Kareena Kapoor in the lead role.
‘Heroine’, which was released on September 21, couldn’t get many favourable reviews but Bhandarkar is completely unnerved with all the noises around him.
While speaking on his inclusion, the director told the media that he has always faced this sort of a situation in his career. He said his previous films were also not liked by everyone and a considerable amount of people spoke against them but later on they appreciated them.
He told firstspot.com, “I am very happy with Heroine and I have no regrets, creatively. Maybe in retrospect, over the years, I may do, but not right now. It is in every creative person’s nature to crave betterment and I am no different.”
In the meantime, Bhandarkar was all praises for Kareena Kapoor.
He said, “I am extremely happy with Kareena Kapoor’s work in the film – she has pushed the envelope and her performance in the film has garnered amazing reviews all across the world.”
‘Heroine’ and ‘Barfi’, which has been nominated for the Oscars, were released together but there is a huge different between both films when it comes to the box office numbers. However, Bhandarkar says he is happy with the amount of money his film has generated.
He stated, “Heroine was made on a budget of 21 crore and since its release, it has made 25 crore! The film has an “A” certificate and it has got Kareena playing the lead – I am overwhelmed by the audiences’ love for my film, Heroine. The box office collections of Heroine are stable and steady and we are going to make 15 crore on satellite rights and from the endorsements Kareena did in the film. Heroine is a profitable venture for all those involved in the film.”
