Bollywood actress and former Miss World Priyanka Chopra is having a high time in the industry right now. Her latest film ‘Barfi’ is working wonders at the box office and it has also been selected for the Oscars. Moreover, the desi girl just released her single ‘In My City’ which got an international recognition.
However, the 30-year-old has always faced criticism in the industry due to some reason. She was recently in the news due to her role as ‘Jhilmil’ in ‘Barfi’ because many of her fans wanted her to do a glamorous role like her rival Kareena Kapoor, who played a lead role in ‘Heroine’.
While sharing thoughts with the ‘Time of India’, Chopra said she never gets bothered with the noises around her. She said she has always tried something different and therefore criticism has come her way.
The actress said people did say a lot of things about her but she was one of the youngest actresses ever to win the National Award.
She told TOI, “Look, I’m being very honest – my career has never been dependent on other heroines, their successes or failures, or the direction of my contemporaries’ careers. I have always been a different sort of leading lady. I have always done things that weren’t recommended.”
She said, “I’m one of the few people who’ve always, consistently, had criticism. People find it interesting to nitpick about me… But I guess it comes when you keep trying to do different things. I remember when I took up Barfi!, I was told, everybody is doing the glamorous roles, why are you doing this… But you have to go with your gut. Sometimes it won’t work. But if you don’t go with your gut, how are you being true to the artiste that you are?”
Priyanka Chopra will now be seen in ‘Deewana Main Deewana’, which is scheduled to hit the cinema halls tomorrow. In the film, Piggy Chops will play a lead role opposite to Govinda.
