Recalling his first speech in the parliament, Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has said that the government was committed to bring peace in the region.

While talking to Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Aslam Raisani, the premier said that he was taking a personal interest to raise the standard of living of the people in the province, adding that Balochistan is one of the top most priorities of his government.

However, this statement failed to deter the opposition from claiming that the government was not following up on its words through actions.

PM Ashraf reiterated that he had directed all the federal agencies to cooperate with the provincial administration in tracing the missing persons and maintain law and order situation in the troubled province.

He further stated that he had issued directives to the Chief Secretary Balochistan to comply with the orders of Supreme Court in letter and spirit.

He noted, “The federal government is keen to develop the province and had approved a special package for the purpose. For this purpose, the Ministry of Finance has been directed to release all requisite funds for completion of on-going projects of Balochistan on priority basis including the release of Rs6 billion for the completion of Kachhi canal.”

He was of the opinion that the early completion of all developmental projects and the employment of Baloch youth would help bring prosperity to the province.

He also urged the local representatives to monitor the development schemes in their respective areas so that their timely completion is ensured.

The Prime Minister assured the MNAs that development funds would be released at regular intervals to ensure the continuity of work on the schemes.

Chief Minister thanked the PM for the support of the federal government and his personal interest in the development of Balochistan.
