Despite CSK loss, Harbhajan Singh proud of Mumbai Indians

Despite an unlucky six-run loss at the hands of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Mumbai Indians captain Harbhajan Singh is proud of his team, and has appreciated the efforts of his teammates in crucial T20 Champions League  encounter on Saturday at Johannesburg.

With the help of an excellent start provided by Murali Vijay and Faf du Plessis, Chennai attained a handsome total of 173. In reply, the Mumbai Indians lost a couple of crucial wickets early on.

Rohit Sharma and Dinesh Karthik consolidated the winnings. The former got out after scoring 32 runs, but Karthik continued to punish Chennai bowlers, and scored quick 74 before losing his wicket in the 19th over. The side could not make a strong
finish and as a result, fell short by half a dozen runs.

"We bowled well after the first ten overs. Treat to watch Pollard and Karthik. Great fight shown. A kind of pitch you can hit shots off good length balls. Proud of the boys. Whenever we play CSK it’s always a good game," Harbhajan said.

CSK skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni was also all praise for his team. He felt they were around 15 runs short, but still praised Ben Hilfenhaus (2/14) and Ravindra Jadeja (2/47) for their wonderful effort with the ball.

"It was important to guide Jadeja. Matches like these really groom a cricketer. Hilfenhaus was right on the money. We took the gamble of giving the later overs to the spinners. We could have got another 15 runs. 170 plus two runs makes a difference," Dhoni
said.

Hilfenhaus, who earned the ‘Man of the Match’ for claiming 2 for 14 in a high-scoring game, stated: "After watching the way their seamers finished off the innings it gave us an idea of where to bowl. Variable bounce tonight. It’s quite hard to defend on
this ground."
