Katinka Hosszu and Benoit Debast win gold medals – 2012 Indian Ocean Meet

Katinka Hosszu and Benoit Debast won gold medals of the Women’s 800m freestyle and 1500m freestyle respectively at the 2012 Indian Ocean Meet in St. Paul, Reunion.

Hosszu stayed in a comfortable lead over her closest swimmer as she cruised her way towards the finishing wall for gold medal by touching the wall with the timing of 8 minutes and 41.30 seconds.

The gold medallist was followed by Mathilde Hoareau, who was 17.63 seconds behind and surfaced on the finishing end for silver medal by touching the wall with an effort of 8 minutes and 58.93 seconds.

The silver medallist was followed by Anne-laure Iscaye, who stayed almost 26 seconds slower from upsetting her former finisher and stepped on the victory stand for bronze medal by producing an effort of 9 minutes and 24.88 seconds.

The third position holder was chased by Eglantine Petit, who stayed nearly six seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and surfaced on the wall for fourth position by reporting a time of 9 minutes and 34.51 seconds.

Fifth position of the event was secured by Sarah Clain, who was almost half a minute slower from outsmarting her preceding swimmer and ended her race in a time of 10 minutes and 01.61 seconds.

On the other hand, Debast captured gold medal of Men’s 1500m freestyle. His notable pace remained prominently ahead of his closest competitor as he tapped the wall for gold medal with an effort of 15 minutes and 19.27 seconds.

The champion was followed by Mathieu Bachman, who was more than a minute slower from his former finisher and tapped the wall for silver medal by clocking an effort of 16 minutes and 23.79 seconds.

The second position holder was followed by Jamme Delphin, who stayed comfortably slower from his foregoing finisher and tapped the wall for bronze medal by producing an effort of 17 minutes and 26.53 seconds.

Fourth best spot of the race was obtained by Chris Ah Siong , who stayed almost five seconds behind and concluded his race in a time of 17 minutes and 31.79 seconds.

Furthermore, the position holders received medals and accolades for their notable efforts at the victory ceremony of the event.
