Serena Williams, Agnieszka Radwanska and Li Na capture the crown at their respective tournaments – Tennis Special

Former world number one Serena Williams, top seeded Agnieszka Radwanska and the Chinese number one Li Na all ruled their respective tournaments and eventually bagged the title.

Seeded third at the Brisbane International 2013, Williams breezed past Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova with a bagel to grab the title. After the scores were levelled at 2-2, the American went on a seven-game killing spree to build-up a 6-2, 3-0 lead. After the Russian came on the scores sheet in the fourth game of the second set, Williams unleashed her skills again and eventually pocketed the match with a breadstick in 51 minutes.

“Today was really good,” Williams jubilantly stated after winning the match. “I kind of zoned, where I’m in a really calm place and not panicking, I’m not overthinking it and not just blasting every ball. I get really calm and kind of serene.

“I was looking at a lot of old matches on YouTube and I feel like right now I’m playing some of my best tennis. I feel like I want to do better and play better still, and I’ve always felt like I could play better.”

The Polish number one, Radwanska cruised towards the final showdown at the ASB Classic without losing a single set. She jolted down a straight set victory against Yanina Wickmayer and captured her 11th WTA title.

“It was a tough final but I’m glad I made it,” the Pole beamed after stealing the show.

Seeded top at the Shenzen Longgang Gemdale Open, Li rallied past fifth-seeded Klara Zakopalova in a three-set thriller to win her second title at her home soil. She summed up a 6-3, 1-6, 7-5 score line to capture this International level tournament.

“Winning the title certainly helps boost my confidence for the coming weeks, but it also depends on how I’m playing on the courts,” Li stated after winning the title.
