Philadelphia Phillies starter Cole Hamels getting better

Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Cole Hamels is getting better and better after he suffered a slight injury with a sore shoulder early in the Major League Baseball offseason.

He recently commented in the media and denied any shoulder soreness which early threatened many as he might not play early in the Spring Training.

“I don’t even know what it was about, I’ve been healthy. That’s the last thing on my list,” Hamels said before the 109th annual Philadelphia Sports Writers Association awards dinner in Cherry Hill, N.J.

“I did,” he said. “And I think that’s kind of the only case. And I think it’s just kind of the typical wear and tear that you kind of just get. But that was during the season. That was kind of where everything is. Once the season ended, it was kind of nice the season ended.”

He further said for the next season, “I feel really excited, I’m looking forward to spring training and getting out of the cold.”

In the recent past season, Hamels achieved consistent numbers and earned appreciation from many. He finished with good numbers of 3.05 ERA along with 17-6 win-loss, 216 strikeouts and 1.12 WHIP. Overall he also maintains a good career 3.34 ERA along with 91-60 win loss, 1307 strikeouts and 1.14 WHIP.

During the conversation with the reporters, Hamels also talked about his team’s winning chances next season.

Hamels said, “We have a lot to prove, We can’t take the backseat and hope that we can coast through. We really have to go after it from the very beginning and not hope that we can play catch-up because these (opposing) teams are not going to allow you to play catch-up.”

Many experts and inside Phillies sources say that this is a good sign that their one of the very good pitchers is getting better and hopefully play a key winning role in their franchise.
