Mohsin Khan blames Dav whatmore for the series loss against South Africa

Mohsin Khan, the former Pakistan cricketer, has slammed Dav Whatmore after the Green Shirts’ defeat in the Test series against South Africa and revealed that he is ready to coach the national team once again.

After Waqar Younis’ resignation from Pakistan team’s coaching in 2011, Mohsin was appointed as the interim coach. During his tenure, Misbah-ul-Haq and company enjoyed a lot of success in international cricket, beating Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. However, their biggest achievement was the whitewash against England in United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Quite surprisingly, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) decided to go for a foreign coach after the series against England and replaced Mohsin with Whatmore, the former Australian cricketer who coached Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in past.

Pakistan team has not done badly under Whatmore either, having won the Asia Cup 2012 in Bangladesh, qualifying for the semi-final of the ICC World T20 2012 in Sri Lanka and beating India in the ODI series at their own backyard.

Mohsin however, has expressed his frustration after Pakistan’s series loss against South Africa and feels that the people who backed Whatmore’s appointment must be blamed.

“There is no doubt that Whatmore has been a failure and damaged a well-set team like Pakistan which was progressing well,” Mohsin said. “But more than him (Whatmore) those people who campaigned for his appointment and took commissions should be held responsible.”

The former opening batsman claims that the national team was doing a splendid job under his coaching and there was no need to tinker with the team management. Mohsin further added that he is always ready to serve his country in any given capacity.

“They should be asked now what was wrong with Mohsin Khan’s coaching that they wanted a foreign qualified coach. I am always ready to serve Pakistan cricket. If I am called I am available for Pakistan again. Because this country has given me everything,” he added.
