Kento Momota, one of the most aggressive players among the younger lot of Japan, showed his supremacy in the arena as he won the Men’s Singles title after beating his compatriot Riichi Takeshita in the final battle of Austrian International Challenge 2013 in Austria, on Saturday, February 23.

The in-form Momota, who was the seventh seed in Men’s Singles main draw of the Austrian International, continued his elevated run in the arena and after a little wobble, won the final clash in just 39 minutes.

Momota had to work hard in the opening set but he was on a different level in the second game and grabbed a striking victory against his country-mate by putting up a 21-19 and 21-12 total on the score board.

Meanwhile, the un-seeded Takeshita could not stretch his giant killing performance in the final encounter of the tournament and eventually went down against his higher ranked compatriot without snatching any game.

In the starting game of the match, both Japanese shuttlers played with wonderful speed and precision. They played to their maximum potential and kept the crown engaged with their aggressive skills.

The score progressed closely as both shuttler played positive badminton and no one could manage a clear lead until the end of opening half.

After the one-minute interval, the battle progressed in the similar fashion as both players continued their staggering run and reached at the concluding stage of the opening game.

However, it was Momota who controlled the affairs at the ending points of first set and managed to win it with a close 21-19 score on the board.

In the following game, Takeshita failed to put up strong show as he lost his focus in the arena and remained struggling at the initial stage.

On the other hand, the seventh seeded Momota stayed on the right track and he did not show any sign of mercy to his lower ranked compatriot. He remained miles ahead until the end of first half.

After the one-minute break, Momota continued his controlled and commanding play without facing any trouble from his challenger and he easily ended up the second game with a huge margin of 21-12 and sealed off victory in a convincing fashion.
