Three bomb blasts killed at least three soldiers and injured six others in three bomb attacks in tribal regions and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday, officials said.

They said that a remote-controlled bomb exploded near a check post when a convoy of the security forces was passing through the restive North Waziristan tribal region, killing three troops.

The attack also injured one soldier. The authorities clamped curfew after the attack.

Five soldiers were injured in two other bomb attacks on the security forces in the same region, officials said.

No group claimed responsibility. Security officials blamed militant groups for these attacks.

The area is also focus of the US drone strikes and two recent attacks killed 13 people including the Taliban deputy chief, Wali-ur-Rehman Mehsud.

US officials claim that the militants cross into Afghanistan for attacks on the NATO and Afghan forces.

Meanwhile  Pakistan military says that the security forces have killed 35 militants and injured 15 more in fighting in Khyber tribal region on Sunday.

One soldier was also killed and five injured in clashes in of Khyber agency, bordering Afghanistan, a military statement said.

The security forces made significant gains over the past three days and cleared main areas of strategic Maidan, taking full control of heights that overlooks the entire Maidan and Kuki Khel Valley.

Terrorist were also flushed out of heights of another key area of Darwazgai Kandao, the statement said.

There was no independent confirmation of the army’s statement as journalists have no access to the region.

Taliban have not responded to the army’s claim.

Tirah is an inaccessible mountainous Valley under the control of the Taliban and another Lashkar-e-Islam group.

Pakistan army has no ground troops in the valley and is using air power to flush the armed groups out of the area.
