PM Nawaz Sharif to visit China next month

Prime Minister Mohammad Nawaz Sharif will undertake an official visit to China in the first week of next month, the Foreign Ministry announced on Thursday.

 

 

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Aizaz Ahmed Chaudhry said at his weekly briefing in Islamabad that this would be the first foreign trip of the Prime Minister since the new government has taken over earlier this month.

 

He said the dates for the visit would be determined through the diplomatic channels.

 

He said during the visit various MoUs to increase cooperation in various fields including energy would be signed.

 

He said that dead bodies of Chinese tourists killed in Pakistan’s northern areas in a terrorist attack have been sent to their country while those of the other countries will be sent later on Thursday.

 

He said US Secretary of State John Kerry will visit Islamabad next week. He said that the visit of British Prime Minister to Pakistan cannot be confirmed.

 

The spokesman said Pakistan will continue to extend cooperation in Afghan reconciliation process. However‚ he said‚ Pakistan is not part of Doha talks.

 

He said Pakistan is prepared to talk to any group‚ including outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan‚ for establishing peace in the country.
