PM, opposition leader discuss NAB chief’s name

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Leader of Opposition Khurshid Shah held talks in Islamabad Wednesday on the appointment of Chairman National Accountability Bureau.

The two considered names of Mian Muhammad Ajmal‚ Chaudhry Rauf‚ Chaudhry Ijaz and Shaukat Durrani for the coveted position.

Later talking to the media persons‚ Leader of the Opposition said he will again meet the prime minister tomorrow morning to evolve consensus on the matter.

“Our continued engagements clearly reflect that we are serious for the early appointment of Chairman NAB.”

PTI and PML-Q condemned the government for ignoring other opposition parties and said the govt and the PPP are in an apparent deal on the issue.

The PML-Q chief, Ch. Shujaat Hussain said that the government is delaying the NAB chief appointment to install its own favourit.

PTI spokesperson, Dr Shrin Mazari said that the govt did not consult other opposition parties on the issue.

Last month, the Supreme Court had ordered the government to appoint the NAB chief.
