Thierry Henry, Robert Pires and Hernan Crespo to play in India

Reports in Mumbai claim that India are planning to get hold of the three football legends: Thierry Henry, Robert Pires and Hernan Crespo, in order to promote the sport in the region.

India, currently ranked 154th in the world, are trying to improve and they want bring awareness in the people of the country so they can pursue football in the future.

India’s best sport at the moment is considered to be cricket, where they are ranked number 1 when it comes to ODI matches.  

All India Football Federation is now trying to promote football in the country. They have already aligned the aforementioned players alongside Fredrik Ljungberg, Dwight Yorke and Louis Saha.

The Indian Super League will start in January and will last until March. Eight teams will feature from different cities and the squad will include 9 foreign and 13 Indian players.

Spokesman of IMG-Reliance stated, “The idea of the league is to revolutionise Indian football. The Indian youth follows a lot of European football. So we definitely want to bring in their expertise, experience and fan following.”
