In the latest episode of violence inside Libya, two soldiers have been killed and nine other have been injured in a skirmish with Ansar al-Sharia, Libya’s top rebel group. The fighting took place in the Eastern City of Benghazi.
The news was confirmed by Colonel Milud al-Zwei, spokesman for Libya’s Special Forces.
“A violent clash has been taking place for several hours between our forces and an Ansar al-Sharia cell.” He said.
Although there were no reports of civilian fatalities, three people are understood to have been injured during the clashes.
