Lahore High Court

Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) was restrained by the Justice Amir Mahmood of Lahore High Court this Monday August 18, 2014 to send any notices to Minhajul Quran Secretariat for payment of income tax.

Justice Amir Mahmood rejected the notices received from FBR to pay Rs350 millions in income tax in a ruling on a petition filed by Minhajul Quran lawyer.

The petitioner claimed that Minhajul Quran is a non profit organization and is not required to pay taxes under the income tax ordinance.

FBR had sent notices to Dr. Tahirul Qadri and Minhajul Quran after discovering Rs.700 millions in eight different bank accounts.

Justice Amir Mahmood also restrained FBR for sending any further income tax notices to Minhajul Quran.
