Nawaz Calls for Dialogue with India Regarding Kashmir

Speaking at a joint session of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Assembly on Kashmir Day, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif told the attendants that dialogue is the solution regarding all issues including that of the dispute over Kashmir between India and Pakistan.

PM Sharif added that although it is not unusual for disputes to arise between two countries, it is unusual that they last for 6-7 decades as is the case regarding the dispute between India and Pakistan over Kashmir.

The Prime Minister said that he has shared his thoughts on the issue with the Indian leadership and says he hopes that bilateral relations between the two countries will continue moving towards a positive direction as it has lately, emphasizing that Pakistan is ready to fight side by side with India against terrorism, he stressed that no one wanted to put the brakes on terrorism more than Pakistan as it has been most affected by it.

Nawaz also pointed out that the development of Kashmir is important. It will benefit significantly from the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).There Infrastructure development projects planned to address road development and enhance energy production in the region.

He acknowledged dissatisfaction regarding delayed power projects in AKJ and promised to look into the matter.
The Prime Minister of AKJ Chaudry Abdul Majeed praised Nawaz’s clear stance on Kashmir at the UN. 
AKJ assembly leader of the opposition Raja Farooq Haider claimed Pakistan is a source of strength and hope for Kashmiris.
