PTI chairman Imran Khan invites opposition parties to march to Raiwand to register protest over Panama Leaks

The Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf chairman, Imran Khan, has invited all opposition parties to march to Raiwand in order to mark their protest over Panama Leaks issue. Khan has been alleging from time to time that the current ruling party of the country has made illegal money and the Panama Leaks further added fuel to that fire. He is now demanding that Nawaz Sharif should resign as the leader of this nation after ‘losing moral authority’ of ruling as the leader of this nation.

The Panama Papers cited Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s children as having stakes in offshore companies-however, it was also mentioned that this does not necessarily mean that those investments are illegal.

PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi also met with Pakistan People’s Party leader Khursheed Shah on Tuesday and asked him to join his party to the ‘Raiwand March’. Shah did not accede to this request and instead advised the Prime Minister to carry out a forensic audit so that his position becomes clear on the situation.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif addressed the nation to dispel the rumors surrounding this issue and said that he will form a commission which will investigate the Panama Leaks allegations. The commission will be headed by a retired judge of the Supreme Court but this suggestion did not sit well with the opposition.

Imran Khan initially wanted to protest in Islamabad but Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan said that no one will be allowed to hold the Capital hostage, hence the venue was changed to Raiwand.
