Opposition parties’ members to hold meeting to decide Panama Leaks issue

The opposition parties are not going to let go of the Panama Leaks issue easily and representatives from these parties have decided to meet today in order to discuss this issue. The agenda of this meeting is to discuss a plan of action to deal with the Prime Minister’s alleged links to offshore companies named in the Panama Papers.

According to the details provided, the meeting will be held at Pakistan People’s Party Senator, Aitezaz Ahsan’s residence in Lahore. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will be sending a six-member delegation to attend this meeting. The delegation will be led by Shah Mehmood Qureshi and its other members include; Jehangir Tareen, Asad Umer, Hamid Khan, Arif Alvi and Atif Khan.

It has also been reported that Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has also accepted an invitation to attend this meeting but so far, it is not clear who will be attending on the party’s behalf. The MQM has also announced to take to the streets in case the government does not agree to probe the Panama Leaks issue according to the opposition’s demands.

While addressing a rally on Sunday in Lahore, PTI Chief Imran Khan urged his party workers to march to Raiwind, in case the Prime Minister does not resign. However, he asked his party workers to wait for further directions, till the meeting is held on Monday.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif came under fire when his family’s name appeared in the Panama Papers over allegedly holding undeclared assets abroad. All three of his children were named in the papers for holding off-shore companies. Since that time, opposition parties are demanding the resignation of the prime minister.
