Security of educational institutes, government buildings, hotels and the Red Zone was increased manifolds and the citizens were advised to keep vigilant of any untoward situation.

According to some reports the Red Zone was the prime target for the possible terror attack and adjoining buildings were also considered a possible target. Two hotels near the Red Zone were particularly considered to be unsafe and one of these hotels, also houses a business center within which UN and foreign embassies’ offices operate.

It was also reported that in addition to the Red Zone, the terrorists may attack an educational institute to divert the attention of the security forces and then follow with an attack within the Red Zone.

In order to protect the citizens from such a terror activity, security in and around the Capital was heightened. A number of checkpoints were installed on various roads and security personnel kept a vigilant eye out for any suspicious person or activity.

The educational institutes were also searched thoroughly and those which were not considered safe, were vacated. Security personnel and Rangers were deployed in and around the institutes and educational activities were halted for the day.

So far a timeframe for the high alert status has not been given but the state will continue till the time the situation improves.
