Two suspects in PTI MPA assassination confess to crime
Thursday, May 5th, 2016 9:38:24 by modousarrOn Thursday, two suspects in the murder case of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) minority MPA Soran Singh confessed to the alleged crime in court on Thursday.
The special assistant to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister, on minorities’ affairs MPA Sardar Soran Singh, was assassinated near Pir Baba, Buner district, on April 25. Malakand Police termed the murder a result of ‘Political Rivalry ‘and arrested six suspects in connection with the assassination.
Soran singh joined the Tehreek-e-Insaf in 2011 following his union with Jamaat-i-Islami. He belonged to the Sikh community and held one of the few seats retained for religious minorities in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa provincial assembly.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Malakand Azad Khan alleged that another PTI leader, Baldev Kumar, is responsible of Soran Singh’s murder. “Baldev Kumar wanted to contest the election instead of Singh… after failing to get the party ticket, Kumar planned the murder,” the DIG voiced.
Subsequent to being in police custody for ten days, the six indicted persons appeared in a district and sessions court today, where two of them, Tehsil Nazim Muhammad Alam and Behroz, confessed to the murder of Singh. The others accused refuted having any connection or knowledge of the crime.
Sessions Judge Asadullah sent the two criminals to jail on judicial remand.
