Pre-Arrest Bail Granted To Ex-Senate Chairman And Son In Assaulting Cop Case

An interim bail was granted on Friday to former chairman Senate Syed Nayyer Hussain Bokhari and his son Jarrar Hussain Bokhari in a case involving the assault of an on-duty police officer. The bail was given by a sessions court in Islamabad.

The sessions Judge, Raja Asif Mahmood who assented to the bail to the former chairman Senate and his son using surety bonds worth Rs20,000 each.

Based on reports, both suspects are meant to reappear before the judge on May 16.

The decision followed a day after a court in Islamabad demanded the arrest of Nayyer and his son for assaulting and threatening a working police officer.

Jawad Hussain Adil of the Judicial Magistrate Islamabad had issued the arrest warrants.

A case was registered with Margalla police on Wednesday, against Bokhari and another person after one of the suspects shouted verbal accusations at the police official.

Pleading anonymity, a police officer claimed that the man who had slapped the policeman was previously believed to be Bokhari’s bodyguard who turned out to be his son, recognized as Jarar Hussain Bokhari.
