The preliminary autopsy reports of British national of Pakistani origin, Samia Shahid, have come in and the initial reports suggest that she may have been strangled to death.

Samia Shahid was found dead last week in her ancestral town of Dina, near Mangla, in an alleged ‘honor killing’ case. Her husband, Syed Mukhtar Kazam lodged an FIR against Samia’s family saying that they killed her as they were never happy with the couple’s marriage.

Samia was buried in a hurried manner and her body was not even shown to Kazam, raising more suspicions. He then asked for her body to be exhumed and post mortem to be conducted so that the real cause of death can be found out.

The initial report suggests that there is a horizontal bruise on Samia’s neck which doctors say suggests that she may have been strangled to death. The report found that “there is a horizontal mark on right hand side of the neck of reddish discolouration,” according to The Telegraph.

The bruise, which is few millimeters in length, can also been seen in pictures which are submitted with the autopsy report. In addition to that, blood streaked froth was also found around Samia’s mouth which again supports that strangulation to death theory.

However, doctors say that the froth can also suggest death due to cardiac arrest only if Samia had any heart-related problem.

So far Samia Shahid’s father, Muhammad Shahid, her ex-husband Muhammad Shakil and her friend Ambreen have been interrogated by the police. The case is still under investigation and a conclusive report will only be submitted once all areas have been probed.
