Mufti Abdul Qavi, one of the suspects in Qandeel Baloch’s murder case, says that he has been exonerated from the case of the social media celebrity.

Qavi told this to a group of reporters on Monday, claiming that the police had totally cleared the cleric from all suspicions and that he was freed from the case. He however, told reporters that those who are involved in the case should definitely be punished for their crimes.

Police had sent a questionnaire to Qavi in order to find out facts about his involvement in Baloch’s murder case. Both Qavi and Baloch had been in news last month for their photographs together.

Qavi said that 23 days before her muder, Baloch herself had sent a text message to the religious cleric, apologizing for landing him in trouble due to her selfies. After the scandal emerged, Qavi had been removed from the moon sighting committee due to his involvement in the social media drama.

Qandeel Baloch’s mother had alleged that her son killed his sister because he had been instigated by Qavi to do so. However, Qavi denied all such claims and said that allegations by Baloch’s mother were all baseless.

Meanwhile investigations into Baloch’s muder case are still going on after she was found dead in her rented house in Multan on July 15. So far the police have arrested her brother Waseem as the main accused and her cousin Haqnawaz for being an accomplice in the killing.
