Video and images of a young boy recovered from Aleppo rubble have moved many to tears due to the state he is in. The image shows a boy totally stunned and covered in mud and blood. A short video clip shows him sitting silently after he is saved and brought to an ambulance-he seems unaware of his injuries as he gingerly touches his forehead and finds blood on it.

The boy has been identified as five-year-old Omran Daqnnesh, who was saved from a building’s rubble which collapsed due to bombing in the city of Aleppo. Omran was saved along with his other family members.

The image and video of the small Syrian boy has sparked a social media storm as users from all across the world have been shown a peek of what actually happens in war.

Twitter user Charlene Deveraturda @malasadasbooks posted an image of the boy and wrote: “Poor baby. Near my grandson’s age. I cannot imagine. The image does not leave my mind. #syrianboy #Syria #peace.”

Meanwhile the hashtag, #Syrianboy was one of the top trending topics on Twitter in the United States, Britain and other countries around the world. According to a statistic released, the hashtag was used more than 10 times every minute on Twitter.

A lot of users also linked Omran’s image with that of Aylan Kurdi, a Syrian boy whose body washed ashore on a beach in Turkey last year. Kurdi was on a smuggler’s ship which capsized as it reached the shores of Turkey resulting in the death of all the immigrants who were on-board.

Such harrowing images bring the real face of war in front of the world and usually draw condemnation against war.
