Joint memorial service to be held for Debbie Reynolds, Carrie Fisher

Mother-daughter duo, Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher are to be buried side-by-side after a joint memorial service which is due to be held soon, according to the details provided by Todd Fisher, Reynolds’ son.

Reynolds and Fisher died just a day apart earlier this week. Fisher died first of a heart attack which she suffered while on her way back from London, while Reynolds died at her son’s place on the next day. According to Todd Fisher, his mother was there to discuss the funeral arrangements of her daughter and while she was there, she suffered a cardiac arrest and died soon after.

During an interview to ABC News, Fisher said regarding the burial place of his mother and sister that he caught a glimpse of hummingbirds at a cemetery site at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in the Hollywood Hills and that convinced him that it was the ideal spot for the burial.

“That’s the way it was meant to be,” Todd Fisher, 58, told Reuters, recalling that his mother, the Oscar-nominated singer and actress, had a special fondness for hummingbirds, which were regular visitors to the grounds of her Beverly Hills home.

Fisher further said during the interview that him and other family members were gathering this week to finalize the funeral arrangements for his mother and sister. He further elaborated that two private events were being organized-a joint memorial celebration and a burial for his mother and sister next to one another at Forest Lawn. He said that after the burial, some sort of public commemoration for the two women will also be organized due to their stardom.
