Chinese man dresses up as dead sister for 20 years for ailing mother

In an effort to save his mother from the shock of knowing that her daughter is dead, a Chinese man has been dressing up as his dead sister for twenty years.

The man, who belongs from the Guilin area in the Guangxi region, is in his fifties and he was first featured in a short film made by Pear Video, which shows his story. The video has received more than 4.2 million views on Weibo alone, and it is being shared on other social networking platforms across the web.

The video shows the man comforting his mother, who is suffering from deteriorating mental health. In the video, the man is seen wearing a traditional cheongsam dress, while he is comforting his mother.

In the film, he can be seen telling the host that he started dressing as a woman after his mother started showing signs of mental illness when her daughter died. The first time he did it, he said she felt so happy it convinced him to continue. “She was so happy, so I kept doing it,” he said.

“I’ve basically been living as a woman ever since,” he added. “I don’t own any men’s clothing.”

In the video his mother refers to her son saying: “She is my daughter. When my other daughter died she became my daughter.”

There are some people who do not agree with the man’s actions but he does not care about what other people have to say. He says that he is doing this for the sake of his mother therefore he is not afraid of people laughing at him.

Thousands have responded to the posts on Sina Weibo with many using the hashtag #HePosedAsHisDeadSisterFor20Years.

He got a mixed set of reaction from people on social media, with some supporting him and applauding his actions while others condemning him for cross-dressing.
