Journey 2: The Mysterious Island

The Sequel to the 2008 hit, Journey to the Center of the Earth, is in post production. Starring Dwayne Johnson as the lead character, this new adventure is set to release in February 10, 2012 in both 3D and 2D theatres.

The new journey begins when young adventurer Sean Anderson (played by John Hutcherson) recieves some distress signal from co-ordinates where no islands should exist. It’s a place with mysterious secrets, mountains of gold and strange life forms exist. His
new step dad (Johnson) joins his quest after he fails to stop him from going. Along with a pilot Gabato (starred by Luis Guzman) and his stunning strong-willed daughter Kailani (played by Vanessa Hudgens), they went on an epic journey in order to find his
missing grandfather (Michael Caine) who went missing while exploring a lost island.

After the success of the first movie, New Line Cinema purchased Richard Outten’s spec script, Mysterious Travels, in March 2009 to serve as the basis of the film. The characters sets on a journey to a mysterious uncharted island thought to have some ideas
taken from three classics: Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island, Jonathan Swift’s Gulliver’s Travel and Jules Verne’s Mysterious Island.

In May 2010, Warner Bros. and New Line announced the release date of this flick.

Brendan Fraser and Anita Briem were unable to reprise their respective roles due to scheduling problems. However, Johnson took the lead role and in October 2010, Hudgens was announced as Hutcherson’s love interest in this American action – adventure flick.

With an estimated budget of $110 million, the filming of Journey 2 took place at eight locations on Oahu, Hawaii, but predominantly in various parts of Waimea Valley and Kualoa Ranch. Filming also took place in Wilmington, North California in the first two
months of 2011.   

Journey to the Centre of the World received good reviews with the best one by Ann Hornaday from the Washington post. She stated, “Terrific family entertainment, an action comedy on a par with ‘Night at the Museum’ and ‘National Treasure.’”

Journey 2: The Mysterious Island will be one of a kind and will set you on a new never before seen adventure. It should be on your radar if you love action and adventure flicks.
