Bishop title to be bestowed upon Dr. Ishaq Mazhar Sandhu
Dr. Ishaq Mazhar Sandhu, the Founder and President of The National Baptist Church of Pakistan, is to be conferred upon the title of a Bishop in the consecration ceremony tomorrow at Islamabad Hotel, Islamabad. Dr. Paul Bhatti, the Minister at large will
be the chief guest for the ceremony.
For his early initiatives to combat poverty through educating the masses and equipping them with livelihood skills, Dr. Ishaq Mazhar Sandhu is regarded as the pioneer of introducing the concept of Social Work in the Christian community. Today, in result
of his humanitarian initiatives, hundreds of Christians who benefited from his Ministry are leading successful lives. This perhaps is the living proof of his commitment, dedication, love and care for his community.
Besides his humanitarian work, Dr. Sandhu has always been an advocate of unity among Christian communities and the entire Pakistani nation. He has always believed into the fact that unity significantly multiplies the individual efforts for a humble cause.
Believing sincerely into his thoughts, he strived long for uniting the Baptist Ministries working in Punjab, and significantly succeeded in doing so back in 1999. His leading role in providing the Christian communities in Punjab Province with a common platform
was rewarded by respective stakeholders as all of them unanimously placed him as the Founder Chairman of Punjab Baptist Association.
The consecration ceremony highlighted that the founder of Rawalpindi and Islamabad Annual Convention, Dr. Sandhu has also served as moderator of the United Presbyterian Church of Pakistan and played a positive role in reaching out to those who were unreached.
He has also served as Coordinator for Southern Baptist Church for its project called LEAD, where he trained hundreds of Pastors to enable them to reach out to the communities with fervor and dedication.
One of his major services to Christianity included initiating with the process of acquiring land for the construction of churches in Islamabad from the Capital Development Authority (CDA) which includes the plots for construction of Churches namely (i) United
Presbyterian Church Islamabad F-7/4, (ii) Khatoon-e-Fatima Church F-8/4, (iii) St. Thomas Church of Pakistan G-7/2 and International Protestant Church G/5 Diplomatic Enclave.
