Shahrukh Khan’s ‘Don 2 – The King is Back’ gathers Rs 15 crore on day 1 – Bollywood news

Farhan Akhtar’s Don 2 – The King is Back, which sees Shahrukh Khan playing a lead in it, has given Bollywood an unusually successful year with yet another big hit, as reportedly Don 2 has grossed an amount
of Rs 15 crore on its release on Friday.

Don 2, which was one of the most awaited films of this year, was finally released yesterday in 41 countries and as per the trends, till 8 pm, the film collected an amount of almost 15 crore.

Moreover, Sanjeev Lamba, who is the chief executive officer at Reliance Entertainment, told the media that the cinemas are booked for the next two days at least.

"Average occupancy across shows was 85-90%, said Gautam Dutta,” chief operating officer, PVR Cinemas. “A good thing is that bulk bookings by corporates for the next two days are also very high," he said.

The film has done an excellent business overseas as well even more than Shahrukh Khan’s previous blockbuster ‘My Name is Khan’. Reports say that Don 2 has collected an amount of $360,000 in UAE whereas
‘My Khan is Khan’ had grossed $240,000 on its first day.

Shahrukh Khan’s previous film ‘Ra. One’ had a lot of hype ahead of it but the film didn’t do much on the big screens as a result to which this is certainly a very important movie for Khan because it will
help him regain his image. Perhaps this is one of the reasons why Reliance Entertainment, who has jointly produced Don 2 with Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment and Khan, is spending a lot of money on the publicity of Don 2.

‘Don 2 – The King is Back’ is a sequel to the 2006 film ‘Don – The Chase Begins Again’ and alongside SRK former Miss World, Priyanka Chopra, has played a lead role in the movie. The film contains some
of the best action sequences which have never been seen on the Indian screens before. On top of it, an excellent performance from King Khan has made the movie a must-watch for everyone.
