Impression of confrontation between institutions incorrect: Gilani

Islamabad: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani while chairing the parliamentary parties meeting here today said that the impression of confrontation between state institutions was not correct.

The PM, deliberating on the recent political deadlock like situation, said that he believed in the supremacy of parliament, and thus he was willing to work with both allies and opposition alike. He said, “A democratic setup is
in the interest of the country”

As the meeting lingered on, the participants also decided to bring a resolution to strengthen democratic setup.

Favouring PM’s comments, the PML-N chief, while talking to the media personnel said he wanted to see democracy flourishing and would not support any unconstitutional attempt to topple the present regime. Nawaz added further that
he wanted the rule of law to prevail.

Nevertheless, he made it clear that his support was for the democracy and not for the corrupt rulers. Categorically expressing his desire for new polls, he said a government which does not implement the orders of the Supreme Court
should not remain in the power.

Unlike chief of the opposition party, Asfandyar Wali, the leader of one of the major allies of the government expressed his unconditional support to the government and fully opposed to undemocratic moves.

Stressing the point that there was no point of no return in the politics, he said democratic setup was crucial for the stability of Pakistan.
