Zardari sees no clash of institutions; consults coalition partners for constructive way forward

Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari here today in a meeting with coalition partners at the presidency said that relations with army and judiciary were getting better and that government will not clash with the institutions.

In the meeting, convened to mull on the situation emerged after Supreme Court charging the Prime Minister with contempt of court for not complying with the orders, president said that they had faced similar situations in the past,
and they will manage to tackle the situation this time as well.

Thanking the coalition partners for their sustained support and confidence in the government, President said that political situation in the country will get better soon. Terming role of the coalition partners important, President
also maintained that the parliament was supreme.

Besides the government partners, senior leaders of the PPP and some of the federal ministers also attended the meeting.

Earlier, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Khalid Shamim Wynne also called on President Asif Ali Zardari. The details of the meeting are not known as yet.

In a rare development, to discuss the present political situation and to emphasize on the need of early elections, opposition leaders including Jamaat-e-Islami leader Qazi Hussain Ahmed, Pakistan Peoples’ Party Sherpao leader Aftab
Khan Sherpao and Pakhtun leader Mehmood Khan Achakzai called on Prime Minister Gilani here today. After the meeting, Sherpao maintained that it was held on PM’s advice.
