NA passes resolution to withdraw POL price hike

Islamabad: (Thursday, February 02, 2012) National Assembly (NA) today, while reacting to the recent price hike has unanimously passed a resolution to withdraw the increase in petroleum products prices.

Moved by PML-N central leader Ahsan Iqbal, the resolution maintained that it will unleash inflationary burden on the already ailing economy and will leave the poor masses bereft of the little resources they are still left with.

The resolution, thus, demanded of the government to revise the petroleum prices downwards at its earliest and formulate a committee within a week to prepare recommendations for introducing a new petroleum policy in the country.

After the approval of the resolution, the NA session was adjourned to meet tomorrow at 10:00 am.
