Shahbaz decides to relinquish eight additional ministries
Lahore: (Thursday, February 02, 2012) faced by much criticism for holding eighteen additional offices, including ministry of health, the Chief Minister Punjab has decided to give away eight portfolios. However, ministry of health,
despite over hundred deaths caused by sheer negligence, still belongs to the CM as he is not ready to take responsibility of those died due to poor quality medicines provided by Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC).
Shahbaz is perhaps notorious for suspending his officers over smallest of negligence from duties, in fact the PIC case is a recent example in which he not only suspended chief of the institutions, but also sent home a number of
drug inspectors along with few doctors. However, he does not find the nerves, for being head of an office, to share the blame and to relinquish the charge for ministry of health.
Now, Ministry of Community Development’s additional charge has been given to Law Minister Rana Sanaullah, while provincial ministry of information will now be taken care of by Pervaiz Rashid. Similarly, ministry of Management and
Professional Development has been handed over to Saeed Mehdi.
Departments of telecommunication, food and energy have been respectively handed over to Ahmed Ali, Manshallah Butt and Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor.
Finally, Ahsanuddin Qureshi is the new head of ministry of Housing and Urban Development, whereas Jehanzaib Burki has been appointed as chief minister’s advisor on prosecution.
