Europe under heavy attack of Snowfall – International News

The winter season in Pakistan has almost entered the final phase. After the recent downpour in the various parts of the country, the influence of cold has relatively decreased. However, this is not the case with the Central
and Eastern European countries.

Most of the European countries such as Bosnia, Estonia, Ukraine, Greece, Italy, Poland, Romania, Czech Republic, and Bulgaria are under heavy attack of snowfall and severe wave of cold. The freezing weather has totally paralysed
life. The transport hubs are closed, the roads are blocked, flights have been cancelled or delayed, and life has stuck in the moment.

Reportedly, this is the worst cold spell in decades which has raised the death toll of homeless people in these countries. Rome, the Italian capital has experienced the heaviest snowfall in last 25 years. Likewise, Ukraine
and Poland have been the hardest hit, with -38C and -27C of temperature.

There have been some 122 deaths reported in Ukraine due to the deadly weather in past one week. Around 45 people bid farewell to life in Poland after the heavy snowfalls, while the death toll in Romania has reached 28. In Dutch town Lelystad, temperatures
has dropped to -21.8C, which is the lowest recorded temperature in the country for 27 years.

Bosnian capital Sarajevo has declared the state of emergency as the life has come to standstill after the recent snowfall. The availability of food, drink and shelter in these countries has been badly affected. The cold snap
has also cut off the communication.

Russian gas supplier Gazprom has warned it is unable to meet Europe’s spike in demand as it battles its own problems with the cold weather. Supplies have been reduced "for a few days" before returning to normal levels, Reuters news agency reports.

Fist fights between shoppers worried to stock up on food supplies have also been reported.

Global warming can be considered as one of the reasons for such extreme weather conditions in Europe. Lets’ hope and pray that the weather restores to normal very soon.
