Akshay Kumar: Anything can be scripted but not comedy

Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar recently provided a lot of entertainment to the audiences in the form of ‘Desi Boyz’ and now the actor is once again back in the riotous comedy zone. Akshay will be seen very soon in Sajid Khan’s much-awaited action comedy film ‘Housefull 2: The Dirty Dozen’, which is a sequel to the 2010 movie ‘Housefull’.

Though the 44-year-old is known best for his appearances in the action films commonly called the ‘Khiladi series’, he believes to do a comedy role is the real art.

”What you have to remember is that comedy is mostly spontaneous. You can write the funniest dialogues in the world but at the end of the day, comedy is about delivery,” Akshay explained. “Now that is not something that can be scripted.”

“Romance can be scripted and so is the case with a drama or a sci-fi. But comedy comes from your own funny bones, not someone else’s,” he added.

‘Housefull’, which was released on April 30, 2012, did an excellent job at the Indian box office. The movie had an opening weekend collection of Rs. 31 crore, which is Akshay’s biggest opening till date, and perhaps, this is a reason why the director Sajid Khan is also very confident of the film.

Sajid has gone an extra mile to ensure the audiences that they will get to see what they have always wanted in Akshay. The director claimed ‘Housefull 2’ will be a treat for the audiences.

Sajid said, “What Akshay did in HOUSEFULL was something that he had never done before. Now in HOUSEFULL 2 his fan base will be happy to see him do something which is a merge of something that is new but also something that you expect him.”

Sajid has always remained tight-lipped about Akshay’s characterization in the film. However, the director has said that people will see an ultimate hero in the form of Akshay Kumar.

He added, “No one other than Akshay can carry off the kind of role which has been written for him in HOUSEFULL 2.”

Well, all said and done, let’s see if the movie really lives up to the expectations.
