The Bollywood heart-throb, Saif Ali Khan, has publically apologised for having a fist-fight with the South African businessman, Iqbal Sharma, which occurred at the Taj Palace restaurant in Mumbai last week.

Saif said: “I would like to apologise for what happened and what everyone saw. I think this situation could have been handled in a different manner.”

The incident took place when Saif along with his girl friend Kareena Kapoor and some other friends went to Taj Palace restaurant in order to have dinner. Apparently, the argument started when Sharma, who was also having dinner over there with his family, complained the management that he is getting disturbed from the noise coming from Saif’s table.

The brawl ended up in a police complaint being lodged against Saif. However, the star has insisted that he is now keen to move on.

The 41-year-old actor stated celebrities should set examples for the people and their fans but on the same note he said celebrities can make mistakes because they are also human.

He said, “We are in talks and I hope to sort it out among ourselves more constructively,” said Saif. “I don’t want to sound like a victim.

But celebrity or not, I do feel that it should have been handled differently. All I know is that, just the idea of hitting out a senior person is something I wouldn’t dream of in a million years.”

Saif Ali Khan will be seen on the big screen on March 23, 2012 since his home production ‘Agent Vinod’ will be released. The film will feature Saif in the lead role opposite to Kareena Kapoor as a result to which ‘Agent Vinod’ has become a much-awaited film yet there are the sceptics who believe whatever has happened may be a publicity stunt.

Nevertheless, when Saif was asked about it he rejected all reports and stressed his film doesn’t need such cheap publicity.

Saif concluded, “It’s not a publicity stunt. Neither me nor my film need such uncalled for attention.”

Saif was arrested back in 2008 as well for beating a photojournalist but the case was removed when he later on apologised to him.
