Saif Ali Khan thinks his relationship with Kareena Kapoor shouldn’t matter for ‘Agent Vinod’

‘Agent Vinod’ is one of the most eagerly awaited movies of this year and one of the main reasons behind the film’s enormous hype is Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor’s off-screen relationship. However, Saif thinks her being in a relationship with Kareena shouldn’t be a reason for the audiences to watch the film.

The 41-year-old Indian actor insisted people tend to forget that he and his girl friend Kareena are basically actors. He stated whenever people see them together they think of them as a couple, which is not fair.

Saif, who will play the spy’s role in the movie, stressed to see a film just because two people are involved off-screen, is one of the ‘most shallow’ reasons to watch a film.

“People forget that we are actors as well. Whenever we are together people tend to see us more as a couple. They stop thinking that we are basically actors.

“The USP of a film will be different for different people. But I think this is the most shallow reason to watch a film just because two people who are involved off-screen as well as acting in the film. This should not matter,” Saif said.

‘Agent Vinod’, which is scheduled to hit the cinemas on March 23, 2012, has a simple story-line in which an Indian agent gets killed overseas during a mission. Nevertheless, while dying he sends a mysterious massage back to the headquarters suggesting something wrong but Saif thinks this is the first film of his career, which is not made for a sophisticated audience.

“For the first time in my 20-year-old career my film is not for a sophisticated audience, but for a majority of the people,” he said referring to his earlier works like ‘Hum Tum’ and ‘Salaam Namaste’.

Well, all said and done, ‘Agent Vinod’ should do well at the Indian box office because the movie already has gained a lot of popularity due to Kareena’s first ever mujra performance and Saif’s recent brawl with the South African businessman, Iqbal Sharma.
