Arsenal tumble over Newcastle United at the Emirates Stadium – English Premier League News

Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal edged past the Toons with a last minute strike from Thomas Vermaelen at the Emirates Stadium on Monday night. They nudged up a 2-1 victory against the Alan Pardew side to solidify their next season’s Champions League spot at the Barclays
English Premier League.

The Gunners displayed tremendous skills and after making an epic comeback from a goal down to outgun Newcastle United, they high spiritedly ended the match at their home ground.

Arsenal’s boos, Arsene Wenger, was quoted in a post-match press conference: “That is the best response to something that has been questioned sometimes this season. I believe that shows we have quality, we have spirit, which I have never questioned. It was
a relentless effort again tonight from the first to the last minute. The tempo was absolutely top level tonight. We kept going until the last second and just managed to win the game.”

The Red Army made a shaky start and after just 14 minutes past the start of the match, they suffered the first blow. Due to a mistake from the home side’s defence, Ben Arfa got the chance and availed it, eventually leading the visitors 1-0 up.

However, the once Invincibles, Wenger’s side counter-attacked in the very next minute and managed to square the scores by 1-1. Theo Walcott helped create an amazing chance and Arsenal’s captain, Robin Van Persie, received the pass and finished low past Krul.

After that, the home side sought several chances but squandered them, ultimately reaching the stoppage time with the same result. The Gunners lifted their game in it and went on full attack. They finally got the breakthrough when Thomas Vermaelen picked up Alex Song’s pass and fired past the opposition’s goalkeeper.

As a result, Arsenal won their sixth Premier League match in a row and are seeking their old form.

The Frenchman further commented, “We played recently against Tottenham, Liverpool, Newcastle and Sunderland who are all very difficult to beat and we won all of these games. There is definitely complete commitment in every single game.”

The Gunners will next confront the Toffees at the Goodison Park, Liverpool.
