Last year’s World Cup semi-final match between India and Pakistan at Mohali is the talk of the town right now since a UK newspaper recently claimed that the match was rigged and the bookmakers used an Indian actress, Nupur Mehta, to seduce the players. However, the controversial queen of Pakistan, Veena Malik, who garnered a lot of publicity in her country for having a relationship with tainted Pakistani cricketer Mohammed Asif, doesn’t agree with the rumours revolving around.

Malik, who will be hosting an Asia Cup special segment on a Hindi news channel, has spoken about the Pakistan-India match-fixing scandal on her Twitter account.

“I don`t think that such a high profile match like “pak India semi final”could be fixed…I hope n pray that all these allegations are fake!(sic).”

“India is the most favorite on papers but again..Cricket is such an unpredictable game…no one can guess the winner till the last strike! (sic).”

Apart from UK newspaper, an unconfirmed ‘The Sunday Times’ report also said that the bookmakers used a Bollywood actress to seduce the players.

The newspapers even showcased a poster of Nupur Mehta’s 2005 film ‘Jo Bole So Nihaal’ along with the report and all these allegations have not gone well with the actress at all.

Nupur held a press conference on Monday, in which while rejecting all reports she said that she will take actions against the newspapers. The actress has told the CNN-IBN that she has no links with the match-fixing.

She was quoted saying as, “It was a complete shock. I had no relation to this. The allegations are baseless and for demeaning my personality”

“I have no connection with the match-fixing episode that has been linked to me. I am just a cricket fan. I am shocked that a newspaper like The Sunday Times of London has used my picture this way. It is not right,” Nupur told Mail Today.

“They blurred my face in the snapshot and used it without my knowledge or permission. Even if they were using my picture for representative purpose, they did not mention as much,” she said.

Though the International Cricket Council (ICC), on Monday, dismissed all claims and called the report ‘baseless and misleading’, there are still many noises in the air.
