Shahbaz Sharif slams Yousuf Raza Gillani

Chief Minister of Punjab, Mian Mohammad Shahbaz Sharif has slammed the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Yousuf Raza Gillani and said that the Premier is fighting for the corrupt elements in the country.

Supreme Court of Pakistan has ordered the Prime Minister on several occasions to write a letter to the Swiss authorities to re-open the cases against President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari. More than $6 million were present in Zardari’s bank account and
he has so far failed to explain that from where that money came from.

However, Gillani has made it clear on a number of times that he will not write a letter to the Swiss authorities against his own President and he is even ready to sacrifice his own position in order to save Zardari, who also happens to be the co-Chairman
of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).

On the other side of the coin, Shahbaz, who happens to be one of the main leaders of Pakistan Muslim League (N) and is the younger brother of Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharif, was not reluctant to criticize the premier. Chief Minister of Punjab expressed that
if the Prime Minister of a country does not obey to the order of judiciary then how can he expect an ordinary man to do so.

Shahbaz said that Gillani is doing nothing but saving the corruption of the President.

“What kind of message is the prime minister trying to convey to the masses by defying orders of the apex court and supporting those who have looted the country’s wealth,” said Shahbaz.

There have been a number of corruption scandals in the country since last four years and majority of the political analysts in Pakistan have no doubt in their minds that the present regime of PPP is the worst government of the history of the country.

Shahbaz expressed that the Prime Minister must ensure rule of law in the country and that is possible only if he sets example.

“Embezzlements have been identified and if the prime minister defies orders of the Supreme Court it means that he is extending support to corrupt officials,” he added.
