Akshay Kumar: Flops don’t bother me

The Indian film actor, Akshay Kumar, who started his Bollywood career in the 1990s, has delivered many blockbusters till date but his last few films have not been able to do well at the box office yet the actor is completely unfazed, as he believes everyone sees highs and lows in his career.

The 44-year-old actor not too long ago played a lead role in ‘Desi Boyz’ and the film did quite well at the box office. However, his recent films like ‘Priyadarshan’s ‘Khatta Meetha’, Vipul Shah’s ‘Action Replayy’, Farah Khan’s ‘Tees Maar Khan’, and Anees Bazmee’s ‘Thank You’ failed to make the audiences happy still Akshay is unnerved because he says he has seen an even rougher patch earlier when he delivered 14 flops.

“Flops don’t bother me..I just work harder in my next film. Every human being has to go from high to low from low to high. If you understand that, then you will never have a problem,” Akshay said in an interview.

“Seven years ago, I delivered 14 flops? big deal. You just keep on working,” the 44-year-old actor said.

Bollywood superstars like Salman Khan, Shahrukh Khan, Ajay Devgn and Hrithik Roshan are on a cloud nine these days since there movies have crossed Rs. 100 crore mark on the opening weekend at the box office. Nevertheless, when Akshay was asked about it, he said records are, after all, made to be broken.

“I was the first guy whose film ‘Singh is King’ raked in Rs 70-80 crore but soon some other film came in and it was broken. Every year that benchmark is going to increase every year, today it is Rs 100 crore, tomorrow it will Rs 150 or 200 crore, one day after five years, Rs 400 crore would seem less. So it (records) will keep breaking,” he said.

Akshay Kumar will now be seen on the big screen in Sajid Khan’s much-awaited upcoming comedy film ‘Housefull 2: The Dirty Dozen’, which is a sequel to the last year’s film ‘Housefull’. The film will hit the cinemas on April 5, 2012.
