Omar Ahmad Hashim tumbles down as Mohammad Majid Ali hits a major upset

United Arab Emirates’ Omar Ahmad Hashim was not able to perform up to the mark and received a major blow in the opening round of the 2012 Asian Under-21 Snooker Championship in Goa, India.
The UAE potter had no chances to come back into the game against Thailand’s Ratchayothin Yotharak and slipped down at his hands by a whitewash score line of 0-4.
The match up was expected to b a thriller as both potters were in good shape but unfortunate for the UAE cueman, he failed to play according to the expectations and got defeated easily. The Thai potter dominated the game from the very beginning and did not let the Emirati potter to score even a single frame.
The sixth seeded Ratchayothin took the first frame by the score line of 68-9. Hashim score some points in the second frame but was not able to win the set as Ratchayothin cruised in easy win by 78-22. The next two frames were piece of cake for the Thai cueman and cleared the table by the score line of 72-4 and 68-19 to wrap up the match.
In a big upset on the opening day of the tournament, Pakistan’s unsung Mohammad Majid Ali hammered fourth seeded Thai Akani Songsermsawad 4-1. Ali conceded the first frame to Akani, but then permitted his rival to score only 27 points in the next four to complete an impressive win.
Former world youth champion Noppon Saengkham of Thailand, seeded second for the championship, was off to a flying start as he routed M.L. Laxman of India 4-1 in their Group B encounter. The reigning world and West Asian champion Hussain Vafaei of Iran has been seeded top for this year’s event.
