Dereck Chisora’s could be allowed to fight again says WBC president Jose Sulaiman

WBC president Jose Sulaiman has confirmed that former British heavyweight champion, Dereck Chisora, can be allowed to fight again provided if he completes anger management course and gets a doctor’s certificate.

“We’d like to have the doctors certify it and if they say he is approved we would definitely consider [ending the ban],” he told Sky Sports.

The 28-year-old Chisora, who holds a record of winning 15 of his 18 professional fights, with 10 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, was handed with an indefinite ban last month due to his controversial behaviour before and after his fight with Vitali Klitschko in Munich.

The Brit, who is more commonly known as Del Boy, slapped Vitali during the weigh-in and later on spat water at Wladimir’s face before his bout was about to start. Things didn’t finish here as in his post-fight press conference he became involved in an ugly brawl with his countryman David Haye, who is a former WBA heavyweight champion.

Sulaiman was pretty furious over Chisora before but now it seems as if his anger has come to an end. While speaking on his inclusion, Sulaiman told the media that whatever Chisora has done is wrong but he is also a human at the end of the day.

Sulaiman remarked that Chisora will get another chance if he gets a doctor’s certificate.

“He is a human being so we’re not going to put him in the trash. He made a mistake. He must pay for the mistake but also we have to give him another opportunity.

“We’re going to have a hearing. The attorney representing the WBC is Steven Beverley. He is our legal council in England. He will be in charge of the hearing.”

Well, all said and done, this all has happened after Chisora’s promoter Frank Warren criticised the WBC earlier this week for imposing the ban without an official process.

Let’s see if Chisora really gets another chance because he is certainly a very skilled boxer.
